What is Adobe Animate?
Flash Professional has been the standard software for producing web animations for the past two decades.
In recent years, Adobe has rewritten the tool to incorporate support for advanced functionality in conjunction with the Flash format and Adobe AIR applications.
Adobe Animate CC, formerly Adobe Flash Professional, is multimedia creation, editing, and animation software developed by Adobe Systems.
The software allows you to create interactive vector graphics and animations for applications, games, videos, television shows, and more in a timeline-based authoring environment.
You can also create animated doodles and avatars and quickly publish your animations to multiple platforms, in any format.
The tool supports raster graphics, rich text, audio/video embedding, and ActionScript scripting. This program has added a wide range of advanced functionality such as HTML5, Canvas, and WebGL, and is extensible to support custom formats such as Snap.svg.
In addition, Adobe Animate supports creating and publishing Flash formats, as well as packaging Adobe AIR applications.
You can view your content anywhere without installing plug-ins because this program has flexibility with output formats.
The 6 New Features of Adobe Animate CC
Next, we’ll look at the great features of the new version of the program, Adobe Animate CC 2021.
1. Adobe Animate Camera
Adobe Animate CC offers virtual camera functionality with a different purpose than other animation software.
With the help of this feature, you can simulate camera movement, giving the animation a more realistic view.
Making it simpler, you can effortlessly pan, zoom and rotate your animations if you wish. Using the virtual camera in Animate CC, you can add more dramatic effects when creating an animation.
For example, if you’re editing a fight scene in an animated movie, you can rotate as the scene shows destruction to give a dramatic effect, or zoom in and out and shift the viewer’s attention from one point to another.
2. Export formats
Animate CC has adapted to web standards to export your animation, which makes it easier to view it from your computer or phone.
This tweak revolutionized web-based flash animation, it eliminated the stressful “need to install a flash player plugin” that was the case with the Flash Professional platform.
In Adobe Animate, users can export content to WebGL, HTML5 Canvas, and 4K video easily.
Also, you can generate a sprite sheet based on keyframes and animate them according to CSS. Adapting web standards does not mean that the tool has completely abandoned the SWF format.
Users have the privilege to be able to export their files to Flash Player format. In addition, a new OAM package is also introduced by the new Adobe Animate CC, which allows you to package assets in .zip format.
3. Modern timeline
Adobe Animate CC timeline controls have been retuned with new options and functionality such as:
- Editing multiple frames;
- Classic interpolation creation;
- Insert keyframe customization;
- Timeline Panning with the Toolbar Hand Tool;
- Freedom works on the active layer effortlessly with the single-layer preview option.
- The Onion skinning button offers the Advanced Settings option to choose configuration parameters. For example, you can choose initial opacity, decrease in, range, transparency modes, and display controls.
4. Vector brushes
Another important feature that Adobe Animate brought is the possibility to create vector brushes. This is more or less the same as used in Adobe Illustrator.
With this update to the brushing tools, you can have the pressure and tilt functionalities in drawing lines and strokes with the help of a pen or stylus.
This is useful for creating strokes on touch-sensitive devices. The width can be changed according to the pressure applied when creating the patterns.
Therefore, if you want to create 2D vector graphics using shapes, patterns, curves, etc., Animate CC is a good choice.
5. Audio Sync
The tool’s timeline feature will now allow users to sync audios in their animations and this is another feature added by Animate CC. This means you can do audio sync for your animation series.
However, doing this can be a little laborious and time-consuming with HTML5 alone. In addition, you can also turn on audio loop control with Adobe Animate CC’s timeline feature.
6. Source
Adobe Animate CC now features Typekit integration, where you get numerous premium web fonts. These web fonts will be present for HTML5 canvas documents in the tool.
